Descriptions
Fundraising (Ways &
Means) Committee
This committee has the job of maintaining an inventory of purchased and donated
items for fund-raising. In addition, the committee members are responsible for
reviewing and coordinating any recommendations or ideas for fund-raising items
for purchase and resale. The committee also manages the sale of items for the
club, whether through the mail or at shows.
Membership Committee This committee is responsible for sending welcome packets to new members and
keeping a current list of members. It also solicits new PON owners to become
club members and submits the names of all new members for publication in The
Herder. Itsends greetings to APONC members who are in need of wishes of
"get well" or "cheer", or "expressions of sympathy".
Health & Research The responsibilities of the
Health and Research chairperson are primarily to keep the membership informed,
via the Newsletter, of news relating to health and research that would be of
general interest and relevance to our breed.
Historical This committee keeps a record of
all pertinent events of a historical nature that occur during the year. The
Historian also has charge of historical club files and other club items of
historical significance.
Legislative
Liaison The Coordinator collects
information from the AKC and other sources concerning national, regional, and
local legislative agendas related to dogs or animals, and keeps the membership
informed of issues affecting them.
Newsletter
(The Herder) The official newsletter of the
American Polish Lowland Sheepdog Club, The Herder is a magazine published
quarterly as a courtesy to all its members. It is available to non-members for
an annual subscription rate of $28. The Herder contains entertaining and
informative articles that celebrates the all-around versatility of the breed in
conformation and performance activities. It keeps members abreast of issues
affecting the Polish Lowland Sheepdog and the dog world in general. It covers
PON-related events in this country and abroad, collected via the editors who
gather the news. (Detailed criteria can be obtained from the Secretary).
Web Site Committee This committee creates and maintains
a web site that promotes club events and programs and that serves as a resource
for members and visitors.
Rescue & Adoption The APONC Rescue & Adoption
Committee provides a national level of coordination for the rescue and placement
of Polish Lowland Sheepdogs into new homes. (Detailed criteria can be obtained
from the Secretary).
National Specialty This Coordinator is responsible
for overseeing all arrangements concerning the American Polish Lowland Sheepdog
Club’s annual specialty show. (Detailed criteria can be obtained from the
Secretary).
Breed
Education Committee The committee shall consist of a Coordinator and four subcommittees
(General/Members' Education, Breeders' Education, Judges' Education and Standard
Revisions) and a Media Support Group with the responsibility to develop project
ideas for Board approval, design and produce audio/visual programs, articles and
brochures as approved by the Board. Each subcommittee will have its own chair to
lead the subcommittee and to coordinate the subcommittee work with the Media
Support Group and the Breed Education Committee Chair. (For an application and
