Diabetes & Hypothyroidism Study

We are working with the Broad Institute in Cambridge, MA, and the Swedish Polish Lowland Sheepdog Club to collect samples for Diabetes and Hypothyroid studies.

We are looking for blood and serum samples from the following dogs:

  • * Dogs that have been diagnosed with Diabetes
  •
  • * Dogs that have been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism
  •
  • * Dogs that are healthy and older then 8 years old and if possible
  •
  • * unrelated to dogs that have diabetes or hypothyroidism

For the collection of the samples only 5ml of blood is needed, 4ml of whole blood which is usually collected in a purple top EDTA tube. The other 1ml of blood is for the serum sample and is collected usually in a BD Vacutainer® Tubes which usually has a red or red/gray top. The vet should have these tubes and should know how to collect the serum sample. If they have any questions please feel free to email me any time!

Thank you so much for your willingness to participate in our study we are so grateful for your sample donations! As I mentioned before if you have any questions at all please feel free to email me at anytime!

All samples can be shipped to: (the address is also on the attached forms)
